Change brigthness with Night Light with multiple displays
Feel free to direct me to the right place if this is not for these types of requests.
Idea
It would be nice if night mode would also adjust the monitor brightness and on multiple monitors.
Reasoning
There are arguments that light intensity is as much important (or even more) than blue light exposure for sleep quality and circadian rhythms.
Night mode currently is great on the blue light front but does not affect brightness.
Options reviewed
If I manually adjust brightness with the default controller, it affects only a single monitor.
I tried to set a corn job to set brightness globally with xandr
based on this discussion but it turns off the night light settings.
There is the Brightness app that works with multiple monitors. However, you can use it only manually, and with similar results (brightness change turns off night mode). Probably because it also uses xandr
. Here is a discussion about the issue.
Environment
I am on Ubuntu 20.04.3 with gnome-control-center 3.36.5.
