Clarify the Files-oriented nature of Search Locations titles and section labels
A follow-up from #619 (comment 1998710) to propose a way to eliminate any remaining potential confusion related to these UIs:
Global search settings | Search Locations sub-panel |
---|---|
I would suggest renaming:
-
"Search Locations" to "Files Search Locations"
…in the 1st screenshot, and in the titlebar of the 2nd screenshot), and in the backend's search keywords if needed; -
"Places" to "Standard Folders", maybe?
-
"Bookmarks" to "File Manager Bookmarks"
…to avoid situations where some users might think it's about web browser bookmarks or something else, as @jcampbell reported in issue #619 (closed), and since in practice GNOME Files is pretty much the only place (other than the FileChooser, which is eventually expected to be GNOME Files anyway) where bookmarks can be set currently; -
"Others" to "Other Folders" or "Additional Folders" or "Additional Locations" maybe
…if you want to be extra explicit, otherwise I don't have much of a problem with simply "Others".
What do you think @Teams/Design, would this make sense or that would not be desired?
