Panel descriptions are unnecessarily verbose
If you search for a settings panel, the results show a description. Some examples:
- Wi-Fi: Control how you connect to Wi-Fi networks (42)
- Keyboard: Change keyboard shortcuts and set your typing preferences, keyboard layouts and input sources (94)
- Mouse & Touchpad: Change your mouse and touchpad sensitivity and select right or left-handed (75)
- Displays: Use Night Light and chose how to use connected monitors and projectors (71)
Some general observations about these:
- The verbs seem superfluous. Words like "control", "change", "set", "chose", "select" are littered through these strings, but do they communicate anything useful. This is a settings app, the fact that you can do these things is already implied.
- Most of the descriptions repeat the terms from the panel name.
The result is that reading these descriptions is hard work and - many of the words aren't useful and the likelihood of you seeing the information you need is low.
Rewriting the descriptions to cut out the unnecessary verbs and repetition would help them a lot. For example:
- Wi-Fi: Wi-fi networks, hotspot, airplane mode
- Keyboard: Layouts, input sources, shortcuts
- Mouse & Touchpad: Clicking, scrolling, gestures, left or right-handed
- Displays: Resolution and scaling, multiple displays, projectors, night light
