Newly added Alt Chars key setting broken my Compose key
I upgraded to GNOME 45 and suddenly my compose key stopped working.
I went to Settings' keyboard page and I saw the compose key was still enabled and set to the right alt key, as I expected. I tried resetting it, just in case, it didn't change a thing.
Then I noticed a new option: an alterntive characters key, which by default was set to the same as my compose key. I changed this one to a key I didn't use (Menu, in that case) and everything worked again.
I wish GNOME let me know about this new option as part of an upgrade onboarding event or something like that, I wis I would be warned about this conflict without having to investigate as for my specific case it presented itself as a regression (even though it's actually a progress).
Maybe having some way to disable the Alt Chars key as for the Compose key would be nice, as I may still want all my keys to behave as designed, but it's a different issue.
I don't know if Settings is the right app the report this to, but well, that's where the new setting is visible to the end user.
Thanks for this new very of Settings BTW, it's great!
