GNOME Settings doesn't register or respect theme change anymore
The settings application, among others doesn't seem to register or respect themes anymore. I see this behavior on GNOME 43.0 with any theme known to work on GNOME 3.38. Unfortunately I cannot say whether GNOME 40-42 still works.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open GNOME Settings, we need it just for reference
- Open System Monitor, we need it just for reference
- Change theme via GNOME Tweaks (Appearance Menu) to any theme other than "Adwaita (default)". I am using a custom theme, but builtins like HighContrast are affected as well.
Expected behavior:
- All GNOME applications (including GNOME Settings) are rendered with the newly applied theme. Compare the just opened GNOME Settings and System Monitor.
Actual behavior:
- GNOME Settings theme doesn't change from the default.
- The change is applied to most other applications however.
Further information:
- A restart doesn't seem to help it either.
- I understand that some third-party apps will never respect OS themes.
