automatic timezone updates to wrong timezone
I am using GNOME 42.1 on Ubuntu 22.04. I leave the "Automatic Time Zone" on. When traveling last week to San Diego, with a layover in Seattle, I noticed that my timezone updated, but to the wrong timezone (MDT). I then got back on the plane and arrived in San Diego. This time the timezone updated to PTD as it should. I am now back in Seattle and the timezone has now updated from the correct zone PTD to the wrong one MDT.
The internet knows that I'm in Seattle, but my machine thinks I'm in Boise:
=> timedatectl
Local time: Fri 2022-05-27 15:57:16 MDT
Universal time: Fri 2022-05-27 21:57:16 UTC
RTC time: Fri 2022-05-27 21:57:16
Time zone: America/Boise (MDT, -0600)
System clock synchronized: yes
NTP service: active
RTC in local TZ: no
=> ll /etc/localtime
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33 May 27 15:12 /etc/localtime -> /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Boise
Steps to reproduce:
- Open GNOME Settings
- Activate "Automatic Time Zone"
- Travel to Seattle
- See that the timezone is set to MDT instead of PTD
