Mobile broadband connection does not establish when more than 1 profile is created under Mobile broadband Settings
When swapping the sim from one sim carrier to another, all existing profiles needed to be deleted in order to establish a connection. This issue also happens even when the same sim card, as long as more than one existing profile is created.
Steps to reproduce:
- Create an APN profile and establish a connection via Mobile broadband using Sim A (IIJMIO/NTT Docomo in this scenario)
- Turn off the system and swap the sim card to Sim B (Softbank in this scenario)
- Turn on the system and create the APN profile for Sim B under Mobile broadband in Network Settings.
- Try to establish a connection via Mobile broadband with Sim B. Notice that system fails to connect. ==> PROBLEM
- Delete the other existing APN profiles in Network settings under Mobile broadband except for the new APN profile for Sim B via nm-connection-editor. (Workaround)
- Try to re-connect again. Notice that the system is able to connect now.
- Turn off the system and swap the sim card back to Sim A.
- Turn on the system and create the APN profile for Sim A under Network Settings.
- Try to establish a connection via Mobile broadband with Sim A. Notice that system fails to connect. ==> PROBLEM
- Delete the other existing APN profiles in Network settings under Mobile broadband except for the new APN profile for Sim A via nm-connection-editor. (Workaround)
- Try to re-connect again. Notice that the system is able to connect now.
Additional information:
- Expectation is that user will be able to connect to the system without deleting other profiles.
- I am able to switch to the other APN profiles using "nmcli connection up " command in the terminal.
- GNOME version 3.36.8 is being used
- Ubuntu OS version 20.04.1 LTS
- Kernel version: 5.4.44
