Screen lock and screen blanking times are not being locked via dconf
In seeking to lock three 'privacy' and 'power' related settings, some of the options are able to be 'locked' while others are only able to be preset without being locked. They should all be able to be locked.
With regards to locking the settings, I'm following instructions from here:
https://help.gnome.org/admin/system-admin-guide/stable/dconf-lockdown.html.en
Steps to reproduce:
- 1 To configure the gnome-control-center options, I create a file at
/etc/dconf/db/local.d/00-privacy
with the following content:
[org/gnome/desktop/screensaver]
lock-enabled=true
[org/gnome/desktop/session]
idle-delay=uint32 600
[org/gnome/desktop/screensaver]
lock-delay=uint32 300
- 2 To lock these settings, I create a file at
/etc/dconf/db/local.d/locks/privacy
with the following content:
/org/gnome/desktop/screensaver/lock-enabled
/org/gnome/desktop/session/idle-delay
/org/gnome/desktop/screensaver/lock-delay
-
3 As a testing precaution, I removed the ~/.config, ~/.cache, ~/.local directories
-
4 Run
# dconf update
to update the dconf database -
5 log out / log back in to review and confirm the changes
The result is that:
- 1 the
lock-enabled
setting is properly configured and locked (this is good!) - 2 the
idle-delay
setting is properly configured but not locked - 3 the
lock-delay
setting is properly configured but not locked
The desired result would be for the the idle-delay
and lock-delay
settings to be both properly set and locked.
I think this may be a bug in not properly allowing these settings to be locked like the other settings.
If someone could check this out, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your help!!
