Authentication / login prompt dialogs from online calendars can interfere with typing the URL to add a calendar
I had a frustrating user experience trying to enter a calendar URL, which I think could be improved by replacing the typing timeout with a "Go" button or at least increasing the timeout.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open GNOME Calendar
- Click the calendar icon on the header bar
- Click "Manage calendars"
- Click "Add calendar"
- Start typing a URL slowly, perhaps because you are tabbing back and forth to another window to check what you have to type
- When you get far enough that the URL is valid (e.g. because you are typing
https://foo.calendar.com/calendars/dav/ptomato
and you have gotten tohttps://foo.calendar.com/
), a login attempt will be made - A box pops up asking for credentials, stealing the focus from what you were typing
- Click "Cancel" or press Esc
- Start to type again, but forget what part of the address you were in the middle of typing
- Tab away again to look it up
- Repeat
I also managed to get the box to pop up again after I had exited the "Add calendar" dialog:
