Remove the "master" branch that was EOLed by "main"
master
was replaced by main
, but the branch still exists, as we can see here for example.
This gets confusing sometimes; even I have a reflex of doing git rebase -i origin/master
(since the branch exists, git doesn't block me from doing that) instead of git rebase -i origin/master
... and surely I must not be the only fool doing that.
Shouldn't we delete the branch completely from gitlab (so that it can be pruned from remotes and so that it does not get cloned when people fork the project)?
As comparison, https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/ does not have a master
branch at all anymore, only main
