Ignore decimal seperator localization when using search as calculator
Feature summary
The calculator built into search is really handy, however it had one annoying issue. I live in a country that uses ',' as decimal seperator and gnome is very strict about that. If i want to calculate 1,2+5,4 I can't do 1.2+5.4 it will treat that as 12+54.
This is mostly annoying because on a numpad the '.' is the only option, so using ',' requires my had to move off the numpad. It is also a struggle when copying numbers from the internet as they often use '.''s.
How would you like it to work
I think there are two solutions:
- Automatically remap '.' to ',' when typing in search when it is behind a number. However this is bad because you then struggle with for example websites ending with a number
- Allow both the use of '.' as well as ',' for a decimal separator. This could however be an issue when the marks are used for seperation of big numbers like 200.000. What could then be possible is to no longer allow it to be used like that. Which is not ideal, but in my opinion a worthy trade off. It could also be an option to only do this when ',' is the local decimal separator because there is less need for this for users using '.'.
