Python Symbols not working
@ariel
Submitted by Ariel Link to original bug (#783930)
Description
Trying to use gnome-builder for python programming, on Gnome 3.22 / Fedora 25
The symbol browser is not working. Out of the box, when loading a pythong script with classes and functions, the symbols browser would show "No Symbols" "Open a file to see symbols"
Which was a bit weird because the file was loaded in the editor. After some searching, I tried installing
dnf install python-ctags
After reloading Builder and opening a python script, the symbols panel now shows an empty panel, with a search tool on top. I.e. not working at all.
Not sure if I am missing some dependency.
I made sure that the following packages are installed
python3-jedi ctags ctags-etags python-ctags
Some more clarity on what mising dependency is affecting the Symbols panel would be appreciated. Or perhaps this is a bug?
I am trying to get similar functionality to what Geany's symbol panel gives (i.e. all functions, all classes, etc) - for python.
