Add prompt to update download for rolling/prerelease distros
This is a feature request.
Test Case
Amira uses GNOME Boxes to test the nightly build of her favorite distro. She clicks + and then choose the featured download and creates a virtual machine.
A week later, she wants to test again to see if the bug she submitted a fix for has been fixed. She clicks + and then chooses the featured download for the nighly build. GNOME Boxes asks if she wants to use the already downloaded operating system or download the latest version. She chooses to download the latest version.
Implementation Ideas
Implement for distros with release-status of prerelease or rolling
Makes testing easier!
This would only change creating a new virtual machine. It doesn't help to download a new Rawhide image to try to update an existing VM that was already installed.
Examples
- https://os.gnome.org/ no build date but known to be updated approximately once per day
- https://openqa.fedoraproject.org/nightlies.html does not have a stable ISO name but does have the build date in the filename.
- http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/iso/ has both a stable ISO with last modified date and a duplicate ISO with the build date in the filename
- https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ has a last modified date
- https://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/focal/current/ has a last modified date. Irregular release schedule.
- https://cloud.debian.org/images/cloud/bullseye/latest/ has a last modified date.
I think we would need to split out things like the Debian and Ubuntu Cloud Images to separate osinfo-db .xml files because they are basically rolling releases for their series.
