VM cannot boot from ISO file if it is located in a mounted network share
Affected version
- Boxes version: 45.0-stable
- Operating system name and version: Fedora Linux 39 (Workstation Edition) x86_64 with GNOME 45.1
Steps to reproduce
- Create new virtual machine from file
- Select an ISO file that sits on a mounted network share (e.g. a NAS box)
- Click create
I used a debian netinstall ISO to create an example log, but this behavior is the same, no matter which ISO you choose. Booting the VM from an ISO located in my home directory succeeds.
The NAS folder is mounted with default options:
//NAS-IP/folder/with/iso/files /home/carsten/NAS_iso cifs defaults,uid=1000,credentials=/path/to/credentials/file 0 0
Seen behavior
The VM fails to start due to a 'permission denied' error (see logs.)
Expected behavior
The VM starts and boots from the selected ISO.
