Gnome v40 acts erratically with Mozilla Thunderbird
opensuse tumbleweed v20210422
gnome v40.0.0 (wayland)
Thunderbird v78.9.1
(Note: I chose gnome-2048 since no option seemed to relate directly to a desktop issue. Perhaps if I could have seen the complete list...?)
After a new login, the launch icon for Thunderbird on the app bar (dock?) looks normal. After starting TB, it is decorated with a tick mark below the icon. Thunderbird functions normally. So far, so good.
Exiting TB does NOT remove the tick mark. The desktop still thinks TB is actually running; there is no "thunderbird" shown in the process list. Selecting the icon from another window moves the view the empty window where TB previously ran. Ugh. To start TB again, I open a command window and enter "thunderbird". TB seems to run normally.
After a while, though, features start disappearing. Like drag-and-drop; gone. (I do not recall which other features; it has been less than 2 weeks since the change to v40.)
To see if exiting TB by a different method would clear the tick mark, I select "Thunderbird" in the Top Bar, "Quit". I Wildly assumed Quit was for quitting TB, not LOG OUT altogether. Or maybe quit TB was the plan; nevertheless, I was immediately logged out, no questions asked. I seem to recall an instance where normally quitting TB also logged out the session.
