Message Output and Debugging Functions for glibmm
glib has a whole family of Message Output and Debugging Functions which come in handy and seem to be used quite consistently across various GNOME libraries and applications. They also seem to be used by glibmm itself.
However downstream in the Inkscape project we have some disagreement over the question whether it is good practice to use those functions because obviously they're not C++. The unfortunate (IMHO worst case) result is that there's now an inconsistent mix between glib functions and plain std::cout/std::cerr
output used for logging, with no clear way forward.
Question at hand is therefore: Has glibmm ever considered providing a C++ alternative for message output and debugging?
