Backport !4003 “Remove unused cmph files” to glib-2-80

Backport of !4003 (merged) to glib-2-80. There were some straightforward merge conflicts on main.c (it had had some typo fixes on main in the meantime).

Normally I wouldn’t backport a cleanup commit like this, but it was done on main because there was some question over the FOSS-compatibility of the licenses for these files. We might as well resolve that question in glib-2-80 as well as on main.
