This will need a trivial adjustment as part of the port to GTK4/GDK4 for the changed API, but I have documented that in the code with a comment, and in the meantime, this already fixes issue #351 (closed) for the GTK3/GDK3 version.

I'm also fixing some incorrect documentation for the "Commit" shortcut, while I'm at it.
