feature request tab space / explicit space
Linting a code, specifically to use consistently explicit spaces only rather than (a mix with) tabulator spaces, I became aware gitg
apparently does not yet highlight the change from one to the other.
Editors like gedit
spot the difference between the situation prior cleaning:
and after
Maybe there is a toggle to use to instruct gitg
to go beyond displaying a 0-difference I did not yet recognize yet. I wish gitg
would report this commit with more detail than
gitk
, for example, allows to display the same commit like this
if opting to display space changes. Note, because gitk
has a default to equate a tab space to 8 rather than 4 explicit spaces, the loop already is displayed differently than in gedit
set up to equate to 4 explicit spaces ...
If missing, I would like to suggest future versions of gitg
to display space changes; perhaps it is possible to highlight the change from tab (using an arrow like →, as in the pattern used by gedit) to explicit space with vertically centered dots (as shown above), or a sign similar to \textvisiblespace used in LaTeX.
For documentation, I add a small test project, managed with git
(2.28.0), gitg
(3.32.1) as provided by Linux Debian 10: space_test.zip
