Feature Request: Parent a Layer Group as an RGB Channel
For context, with my work, I use Normal Maps that instead of XYZA (A is Alpha, in other words Specular) it's AZYX, this might be irrelevant though because if it can work for AZYX format, it can work for default XYZA as well.
So, the specular itself, instead of being the Alpha, it's the Red Channel. For me to work on it, I use a Layer Group that has all the texture data for the specular, I then have to use the RGBA channel to switch them all off except Red, copy the -Specular layer group and put it into the Red Channel of my already-compiled AZYX normal map.
Now, this isn't the most comfortable, hence here's my solution: Make a method (script?) to set a "Layer Group" as the parent group of an RGBA channel. In this context, all the data from the -Specular layer group will be transferred to the Red Channel. It can be realtime, which I think it will be a waste of resources actually due to having to compute twice, or only visible when you only enable the Red channel...Or simply, it's all compiled as so when you export the texture, be it png, tga or especially dds.
