Export file picker freezes intermittently while loading large folders
Environment/Versions
- GIMP Version: GIMP 2.10.32 (revision 1)
- Package: Windows x64 Installer (over previous install)
- Operating System: Windows 10 21H2
Issue Description
When exporting an image, such as an image loaded via drag-n-drop from the Windows explorer, if the image is inside a folder with a large amount of items (10k+), the file picker will freeze on the imported folder path until all items in the folder have been loaded.
Performance Log
Performance Log Description
After an image has been loaded to the GIMP canvas, start recording. Went to export as..., and let the file picker do its thing. Intermittently, it displayed "Export Image (Not Responding)" every few seconds. When the first few image filenames show up, I click the export filename to change the extension, but it's still frozen. It finishes loading and unfreezes in about 35 seconds. From then, I exported a JPG file normally, checking the quality settings in 10% increments with the image preview option enabled as my default.
Additional Information
This may be entirely to do with GIMP's use of GNOME's file dialog, rather than Windows's. As an aside, these folders need to be reloaded every time "export as" is used. You can just drop the files you intend to work on in a different working folder to alleviate this.
