Typing space in Export Image dialog filename creates weird combined character with next keypress instead of space
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.10.30
- Package: chocolatey
- Operating System: win10
eurkey keyboard mapping on ansi qwerty keyboard, locale set to en-be
Bug appeared after a gimp update between 3 and 6 months ago (update: coincidence). I type a lot all day (intellij, vscode, gitkraken, terminal, discord, vivaldi, start menu, voidtools everything) and no other software is showing this issue.
Description of the bug
The Export Image dialog treats a space as some sort of alt-code or modifier key to combine with the next pressed character, resulting in weird (but consistent) characters where a space+letter should be. E.g. typing zero g
results in zero⊂
, no fly
in noƒly
, and a rat
in a√at
. Only typing space+backspace creates an actual space character.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? always
Reproduction steps:
- start gimp fresh
- open any image
- ctrl-e (export image)
- type a filename that includes a space and any letter (or space again) following
Expected result: verbatim typed text as filename
Actual result: space combines with following letter into consistent-random glyphs
