Cut/copy selection not working after (long) sleep
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.10.30
- Package: Manjaro repositories
- Operating System: Linux (Manjaro)
Description of the bug
If GIMP is left running when computer goes to sleep, selecting a portion of an image, copying and pasting said selection will not create a copy of said selection. Cutting and pasting will cut the content, but not paste it back.
When the problem occurs (and with error reporting set all the way up), I get the popup with the following dump: gimp-debug-dump.log
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Vaguely
Steps to reproduce:
- Use GIMP for a significant amount of time
- Put computer in sleep mode
- Wake computer
- Resume working with GIMP
- cut/copy selection
- paste
…
Expected result: A copy of selection is pasted onto the canvas.
Actual result: Nothing is pasted to the canvas.
Other notes re: reproducing
The bug happens often enough but not always. It's not random, either — there seems to be a pattern. It generally happens when:
- I put the computer to sleep overnight
- I have used GIMP (working on a single image, drawing) for a long time the night before (at least a few hours)
However, the bug does not happen if GIMP is freshly opened and if sleep duration is short (I tried reproducing the easy way).
Additional information
Since the log says something about memory, my memory-related settings are:
- Min undo levels: 256
- Max undo memory: 4 GiB
- Memory for tiling: 8 GiB
This issue happens even if total memory usage of my system is well within what my system can handle.
