Mouse wheel cannot be mapped to actions (generates no events)
KUbuntu 21.10, (KDE) GIMP 2.10.24 (from base install) native application.
(that said I also found this behaviour from Debian buster with older gimp)
This had me tearing my hair out, as it seemed it worked fine for everyone but me. It behaved the same on two different systems and with two different mice. To cut to the chase.
1: Start gimp from bash shell 2: edit->preferences->input devices/input controllers --> double click mouse wheel. 3: check to ON "Dump events from this controller" and "Enable this controller" ...I added an event "Scroll Up" to view-scoll-page-up 4: close, Ok 5: with an image loaded, centre mouse in image, roll mouse wheel up&down ...nothing happens, no events seen on stdout
...go back to input devices (see above) "Configure Extended Input Device"
6: select mouse device, change mode from e.g.screen to disabled 7: Repeat the roll mouse wheel exercise, events appear from stdout (and action happens within gimp, e.g view-scoll-page-up
So the Mouse wheel needs to set to DISABLED in in order to work .... I assume this is the opposite of the intended behaviour.
