Allow Selection for Clone
When transferring content from one layer to another, or from one image to another, I am encountering a difficulty when I want to transfer that content to an existing layer.
Clone seems to be the only way to do it because copy / paste creates a new layer - the floating selection. However, with clone, a brush is required to transfer the content which is counter-intuitive - does not make sense. In addition to that, it is difficult to define the brush parameters like aspect ratio that define the size of the selected content. For what that problem is with a simple rectangular selection, see:
I am requesting that for clone operations, source selection and target point are supported. Or anything that is more intuitive than what I find and that can be executed with Python efficiently. I see that there might be a problem to define a point for a selection but I think that should be a solution for that.
