Description of the bug
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible?
Yes Reproduction steps:
- Scan a letter in 2400 DPI, 64bit color ## This produces a 6.4GB file
- Open the file in Gimp (See versions below)
- Manipulate the file any way you want. I just export it as PNG
This will just wipe Gimp off the screen.
Expected result: Completed operation
Actual result: Gimp crashes/exits, No more on screen
Additional information
Machine: PC with AMD 8 cores, not-overclocked, with 16GB RAM, 16TB storage
I doubt any more hardware data is a waste of time; the machine runs a variety od jobs and never crashes for months
O/S: Linux, Ubuntu 21.04, no kernel hacks, on automatic upgrades, so assume newest a plain user would have.
Desktop: x
Gimp: 2.10.22 Installed automatically, no gimmicks, no hacks
User: Retired Unix, Linux, bsd. Going blind, very difficult reading screen, but will help,
up to providing guest login on the machine. Will not allow root, rebooting without permission.
If you have a backtrace for a crash or a warning, paste it here.
I am not sure how to cause Gimp to dump a core (or whatever new magic is used these days.
