Text boxes & fonts
Gimp 2.10.14 is generally a nightmare of non-intuitiveness. It could use a LOT more of click and drag 'smart' editing, like you could get on Macintosh about four decades ago. Working with GIMP is particularly bad when it refuses to allow you to set a font and actually get it. It's one thing to be obtuse and have to spend HOURS finding someone who already figured it out and posted it, AND his solution is still relevant to the version you are using. It's entirely another when all suggested recipes for suceess fail miserably and you simply can't get the job done with the tool.
Gimp will not let you set the font in advance for a text box, it will not let you change the font of text that you have already added to the text box. It seems to hate Times New Roman, you can select it for a time, but it gets reset shortly thereafter to GIMP's favorite sans serif. It doesn't matter if you are trying to set the font in the little floaty dialog that seems to want to hump the cursor or in the text editor, or in the tool options dialog. GIMP HATES Times New Roman and it also has a major problem with font sizes over 72, though you CAN get around that by scaling the layer after you're done editing the text; the downside with that workaround is that now the layer is just an image, no longer editable as text - that's inconvenient.
