Description
Created attachment 286535 PNG image showing printer or monitor icons on image tabs
GIMP uses Edit - Preferences - Color Management dialog when the user wishes to switch between RGB (monitor) view, and print softproofing (such as CMYK SWOP).
I would like to see a prominent icon button, on the main user interface, that would allow toggle between these two modes, without a dialog box. This assumes that the user has set color management preferences in the usual way.
I use GIMP for color adjustment of photos either for Internet or SWOP publication. Sometimes I open the program, and am in the wrong mode. Nothing on the interface directly tells me which mode is in use.
Sometimes I wish to use the same photo both ways, and would like to switch back and forth between RGB and softproof views, so that a single file could be more or less used for both. My monitor is calibrated, and color separations to CMYK are done in an outside program, to my satisfaction.
Ideally, the user would be able to set two views, each of which has independent color space and output profile. Click the icon to switch. For tabbed files, perhaps the icon could appear on a per-tab basis, allowing independent choice for each image? I have illustrated the concept on the attached image. Look at the tabs.
I compile git master on OpenSuse tumbleweed, but do not know how to program.
