Windows + GIMP + Wacom FREEZE
GIMP version: 2.10.18
Operating System: Windows 10 (64 bit i7)
Package: Installer from GIMP.org
Description of the bug
Sometimes I have to unplug the Wacom tablet and plug it back in before using GIMP. And sometimes something goes wrong and it causes GIMP to completely FREEZE once I touch the tablet with the pen. It works fine with keyboard+mouse before it freezes, but once I use the tablet it freezes and the cursor pointer is stuck on whatever tool was being used no matter where I move the mouse... all menus stop working... I can not close GIMP... it completely freezes and I have to use Task Manager to kill it.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? ... VERY RANDOM.
Reproduction steps:
- Unplug tablet, plug another USB device, plugin tablet again.
- Open GIMP. See that it works fine with KBM.
- Trying using tablet and watch it freeze.
…
Expected result:
Should not die on me :)
Actual result:
It dies.
Additional information
1 - I can't seem to get a crash report because it just freezes. Or can you tell me where I might look?
2 - I have READ SOMEWHERE that this might be a GTK problem in Windows... and somehow it is just random and this is a "windows problem". If that's true, is there a way to restart GTK without having to reboot?
3 - IMPORTANT: Krita expresses the EXACT same behavior when it happens to GIMP. When this situation happens it occurs to BOTH GIMP and Krita. Are they both using GTK perhaps?
4 - Other softwares such as Autodesk Sketchbook DO NOT experience the problem. I can continue to operate in Sketchbook.
5 - If I reboot then everything goes back to normal and I can use both GIMP and Krita again.
