Gimp and disabled python support?
I know this is mainly distro specific question, but I thought about bringing it here to know what to do.
As of today Arch linux dropped support for GIMP Python support, the reason being:
- Proposal to remove PyGTK from the official repositories. PyGTK was used to create GTK2 applications in python2. It's deprecated and unmaintained since 2011 in favor of PyGObject, and does not receive any fixes since then. *
So newest GIMP build for Arch has disabled python support drop dependency on PyGTK
The consequence of this is that Resynthesizer plugin - the only available content aware plugin for GIMP (afaik) ceased to work.
So my questions:
- Is there anything that me, as a professional photographer that depends on GIMP and this filter can do? Flatpak is not an option due to sandbox environment.
- Is there a workaround to get this filter (Resythesizer) to work despite drop of PyGTK support?
