Seems like GIMP produces damaged TIFF-Files
GIMP version: 2.14 - 2.18 (maybe also earlier versions of GIMP 2.10)
Note: bug reporters are expected to have verified the bug still exists either in the last stable version of GIMP or on updated development code (master branch).
Operating System: Windows 10, Home Edition
Package: Installer from gimp.org
Description of the bug
I repeadedly have the problem that TIFF-Files I exported from GIMP can't be modified and deleted from hard disc. I can open them in GIMP, but if I modify them, it is not possible to overwrite them. After executing the export-order, the progress-display appears, but without showing any progress, and nothing really happens. Even the File-Shredder of Bitdefender does not delete them. And also deleting them by using the command-prompt with the "del"-command does'nt succeed in all cases. It is verry difficult to get rid of this damaged tiffs. I'am not the only one who has this problem. T has always been reported by a user on german GIMP-Forum some time ago.
As far as I see, it only happens if the pictures have more than one layer. This problem did allready exist under GIMP 2.14, and it is still existing under 2.18.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Yes, but only if the file contains more than one layer.
Reproduction steps:
1.Just the normal way to export as a tiff (no matter if compressed or not). 2. 3.
