[Feature request] allow left click on thumbnail in layer viewer to make layer of that thumbnail viewable in main window for edit purpose
Hi. @DerAndere 1st of all many thanks for your kind replay on the following issue: #3882 (comment 594657) your replay make me able to use GIMP to edit PDF .....
Now we have some changed to be added to GIMP so as to make it convenient to edit scanned PDF files. In this thread I suggest one of them which: currently, if user import multi-pages PDF file using "import as layers" then the 1st layer will appear in chief window while beside it (to right) will appear all pages as thumbnail in "layers dockable dialog" - see: https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/gimp-dialogs-structure.html#gimp-layer-dialog
This is good. But the problem is that if I like to edit (say erase area) page number 5 (not 1st page) then left click on thumbnail of page number 5 will not make it viewable in chief window so that user can not see contents of page number 5 to apply eraser at correct sector ! - see attached screenshot where I left click page number 452 while appear in main window page number 1):
User need to make left click page 5 thumbnail then make it the only viewable layer (shift + click on "eye" of that thumbnail) so as to make page number 5 appear in main window & user need to restore all layers (page) to original setting (all not hidden) before export ! This make edit complex specially when working to edit many pages at different location within PDF, like edit 50 pages ....
So, I suggest to make left click of thumbnail by itself enough to make it viewable in main window while "eye" icon function to make hidden/unhidden continue it's functionality as before.
I wish you will understand what I like to suggest & I wish my way in explanation is correct. I'm not asking to change functionality of hide/unhide layers. I only asking for easer navigation from page to page ....
