Confusion over install directory for plug-ins?
I complied gimp 2.10.10
last week and have since been searching why gimp
won't open pngs
and pdfs
. I suspect I found the cause just now. I'm not sure this is an error, but also, I don't know what's the correct way to solve this.
On Slackware, 64-bit libraries are saved in /usr/lib64, so, to convfigure correctly I always need to configure with the command:
./configure --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib64
It seems that this causes the install process to store the plug-ins and other directories under
/usr/lib64/gimp/2.0/
instead of the expected /usr/share/gimp/...
or ~/.config/GIMP/2.0/...
I have the impression that that directory is not in the search path gimp uses to find those plugins.
I'm not clear which would be the correct procedure to avoid these problems:
- move the directory to expected places?
- somehow instruct gimp to search where they actually are?
- place a symlink?
- some other solution?
I have compiled gimp frequently, never detected this change. I couldn't find any reference to this issue either, so maybe I'm just wrong.
