GIMP 2.10 hangs when opening MacOS screenshots but not other PNGs
GIMP version: 2.10
Operating System: macOS Sierra 10.12.6
Package: Installer from gimp.org
Description of the bug
File browser hangs when I try to open a Mac screenshot PNG (the kind you create on MacOS with cmd-4). Other PNGs open successfully. The UI is frozen such that I cannot close the file browser window nor can I quit GIMP with cmd-Q. However, if I use the native top toolbar to say GIMP->Quit GIMP, GIMP quits.
I considered that this bug was caused by the screenshots living in the Desktop directory, but the crash still happens when I've copied the files into a directory holding openable PNGs.
I do not experience this problem with GIMP 2.8.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always, but only with screenshots and not with GIMP 2.8.
Reproduction steps:
- Take a screenshot with cmd-4
- Start GIMP 2.10 on macOS Sierra 10.12.6
- cmd-O to open the file browser
- Navigate to Desktop.
- Double-click the .png representing the screenshot.
…
Expected result: The screenshot opens in GIMP for editing
Actual result: GIMP hangs
