Layer selection menu in script interface dialogs too long

Description
In Script-Fu scripts, the keyword "SF-LAYER" can be used to add a dropdown menu to the graphical interface dialog of the respective script. From the menu, the script user can select from a choice of layers that are currently open in the GIMP.
However, people commonly have a dozen image windows open with lots of layers in each; the menu dialog thus frequently offers a choice of hundreds of layers, and for recurring invocations of a script with such a layer menu, the selection process quickly becomes tedious. I suspect that in the general case the layers relevant to the particular script are only those belonging to the image the script is being called on. It should thus be possible to have only those layers appear in the selection menu that belong to that image; if the user needs layers from other images as well, she might as well copy those over manually before calling the script dialog.
If this is not an option, perhaps it makes sense to have the script developer decide whether to allow "foreign" layers into the layer selection or not. The script programmer should be able to pass a flag with "SF-LAYER" to decide on this.
