GIMP 2.10.2 writing to incorrect IPTC metadata tag DateCreated
GIMP version: 2.10.2
Operating System: Windows 10
Package: Installer from gimp.org
Description of the bug
GIMP 2.10.2 is writing IPTC metadata to incorrect tags. It is writing to IPTC DateCreated and IPTC TimeCreated.
However, these tags are intended to be used for the date and time the photo was taken (content created), not the date and time when the image was changed by GIMP.
Perhaps GIMP should be writing to IPTC DigitalCreationDate and IPTC DigitalCreationTime. And possibly also to xmp-xmp ModifyDate.
Currently GIMP will overwrite the tags resulting in loss of data associated with the date the image was originally taken.
For example, a photo that was taken on May 1, 2018 that includes IPTC DateCreated of 2018:05:01, and is then later modified by GIMP on May 22, 2018, results in IPTC DateCreated being overwritten with 2018:05:22 (which is a loss of the original date).

IPTC DateCreated - Designates the date and optionally the time the content of the image was created rather than the date of the creation of the digital representation.

Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
- Modify a jpg with GIMP and export as jpg with advanced options to Save XMP and Save IPTC.
- Look at photo metadata, the IPTC DateCreated shows the date when GIMP made the change.
- The IPTC DateCreated metadata should not show the date GIMP made the change, this tag is for the date the photo was taken, not the date GIMP modified the image.
…
Expected result: GIMP should not update IPTC DateCreated and IPTC TimeCreated. GIMP should be writing to IPTC DigitalCreationDate and IPTC DigitalCreationTime. And possibly also to xmp-xmp ModifyDate.
Actual result:
