Lassoo Tool – weird behaviour
Environment/Versions
- GIMP Version:2.10.38 & 2.10.36
- Package: x86_64 https://output.circle-artifacts.com/output/job/605eeba1-fd4a-46ab-b9ad-23e7c55fb6ad/artifacts/0/builds/gimp-2.10.38-arm64-b21040-gimp-2-10.dmg as posted by Lukas Oberhuber
- Operating System: macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierrs)
Bug exists in both Intel downloads from GIMP site, as well as Lucas's modified version (that actually works on a Mac).
Issue Description
The lassoo tool can only work once, for one selection, after which the cursor becomes inert. Further selections cannot be made to replace, add, subtract, or intersect with the selection. This is true with keyboard commands (shift to add, control to subtract) as well as with the four Tool Options.
The only solution seems to be to exit the lassoo tool by clicking another tool. Unfortunately this loses the contol points (orange dots) on the original selection. Usually I toggle between the lassoo tool and the marquee tool, which slows work down considerably. Half the time, I find myself using the wrong tool and have to backtrack in the History pages – very annoying.
Suspecting this had not always been the case, I opened GIMP 2.8 from my Snow Leopard partition. (Yes, it still works on High Sierra.) Sure enough, there was no problem; further lassoo selections could be added and subtracted from an existing selection, using keyboard commands.
Performance Log
Performance Log Description
I can't follow the instructions provided here for a Performance Log: they are for Windows, not Mac.
Additional Information
I did conduct a discrete test, but cannot find anything recorded in Console at the right time. Someone could tell me where to look, perhaps.
