System theme is a joke for 2.10 users
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.99.17
- Package: CI crossbuild (2aa0a9d4)
- Operating System: Windows 11
Description of the bug
The listed "System" theme in Preferences dialog, unlike GIMP 2.10, don't use the native widgets anymore. Instead, it acts like a Adwaita theme (?). The problem is that the Windows user cann't expect this.
To get the expected behavior behavior, some GTK wizardry like this would be necessary:
settings = gtk_settings_get_default();
gtk_settings_set_string_property(settings, "gtk-theme-name", "win32", NULL);
However, as hinted here, anyone wants to maintain this awful theme anymore. In addition, I heard rumors (I did not check in the code) that GTK 4 discontinued this theme and macOS native theme seems to never existed.
Therefore, this theme should be hidden from the list, or renamed for some new name like "Base". This way we will not irritate the community with this "joke" during the first days of GIMP 3.0.
