Cannot find documentation for Blend Color Space of paint tools and Gradient Tool
I cannot find documentation of the parameter Blend Color Space
. The Blend Color Space
can be found in GIMP's dockable dialog 'Windows' -> 'Dockable Dialogs' -> 'Tool Options' for the 'Gradient Tool' (G) and different paint tools like 'Paintbrush Tool' (B), 'Air Brush' (A), 'Pencil' (P).
Specifically I would like to know e.g. for the 'Gradient Tool' what blend color space results in a more percepetually uniform gradient: Perceptual RGB
or CIE LAB
.
Without much research I would propose that something like the following should be inserted in the file https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp-help/-/blob/master/src/toolbox/paint/gradient.xml :

<guilabel>Linear RGB</guilabel>: When the option 'Perceptual RGB'
is chosen, the Blend Color Space is linearized sRGB (defined by the
sRGB primaries and a linear tone reproduction curve). This results
in gradients that resemble the physical behavior of light. This option
should be used if the color as measured with a colorimeter, should change
linearly with the distance from the color stops whithin the gradient.

<guilabel>CIE Lab</guilabel>: When the option 'CIE Lab' is chosen,
the Blend Color Space is CIE L*a*b*. This perceptionally uniform
color space is used to model human perception of color blending.
