Make abandoned "gegl:kuwahara" operation from April 2012 working
This may be a non-action and may sound 'out of scope' as it is just a personal curiosity of mine. I would like to know if it is possible to get the discontinued GEGL operation gegl:kuwahara (edge only smooth) working in modern Gimp/GEGL. From what I can see Kuwahara was a in-development GEGL plugin from the past that is no longer in GEGL workshop or anywhere official. When running in Gimp 2.10 and Kuwahara as a compiled plugin it glitches out on use. Though I got a few operations from 2012 working.
Below are pics of 2012 GEGL workshop filters I got working. Most crash or glitch.
gegl:box-max from 2012 running on modern Gimp. It looks like Median Blur on Square.

Below is the download to GEGL 0.2 and a notice for its requirement gegl-chant.h. - the source is here https://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/gimp.org/gegl/0.2/gegl-0.2.0.tar.bz2
I'm sure no one has touched the source code of legacy GEGL, I just did it out of curiosity to learn the history of it. I even noticed how the old gegl:dropshadow has a different gegl:gaussian-blur and no gegl:median-blur existed then. Sorry if this is considered a non-actionable post that just talks about the lore of GEGL. Consider this post to be a request to get the abandon gegl:kuwahara working.
