Wayland app id does not match desktop file name
When running Gedit on (Plasma) Wayland it passes "gedit" as app id. However that app id should match the desktop entry name, which would be "org.gnome.gedit". This breaks shell features that rely on mapping the window to the .desktop file.
This can be observed when running WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 gedit
. The output contains [1549675.904] -> xdg_toplevel@41.set_app_id("gedit")
Other GNOME apps like Nautilus and 2048 do this correctly and include the org.gnome. prefix
