Address autocomplete lag
Bug Summary
Somehow I have hundreds of contacts from some mailing list in my contacts DB. Now, email autocomplete in, eg, the address / To field or the CC field takes a few seconds, especially when I've only typed 2 or so characters -- even the characters I'm typing don't show up until it computes the whole list. My impulse says that this is a bottleneck either filtering or displaying the list, but maybe it's not.

What happened?
Graphics appear to stall, characters I type are very slow to appear, autofill suggestion drop-down appears with no suggestions for a moment (~2sec) before suggestions appear
What did you expect to happen?
Normal behaviour for text input: characters appear immediately when typed with no latency, autofill suggestions appears without delay or not at all, autofill suggestions limited to relevant number (5 or 10, maybe)
Relevant logs and/or screenshots
(can't show screencap without exposing other people's emails; unsure which logs are relevant)
