Geary crashes on first start
Bug Summary
Notice: I set Geary to start on system start with flatpak run org.gnome.Geary --gapplication-service
. Geary fails to start when clicking on Geary-Button in panel after system start. After the third click Geary is opening.
In terminal I got some errors.
Your installation
- Geary version: Package: 3.34.1-4
157116567719.10~ced9b62 (Pop OS), Flathub: 3.42 - Installation method: Package in Pop OS and also tried via Flathub
- Desktop environment: GNOME 3.34.2
- Operating system and version: Pop OS 19.10
- Email provider: Posteo and GMail
Steps to reproduce
see terminal command below
What happened?
When I try to start Geary to open it's window, starting fails. I have to click the Geary button once again to see the window. Geary should have been started on system start.
What did you expect to happen?
Geary should start minimized and when clicking on the Geary button it should open it's window.
Relevant logs and/or screenshots
First command to start Geary via terminal:
~$ flatpak run org.gnome.Geary --gapplication-service
Gtk-Message: 13:37:34.367: Failed to load module "appmenu-gtk-module"
[deb] 13:37:34.0458 GLib-GIO: _g_io_module_get_default: Found default implementation keyfile (GKeyfileSettingsBackend) for ‘gsettings-backend’
Gtk-Message: 13:37:35.078: Failed to load module "appmenu-gtk-module"
After that click on the Geary-button in panel:
![err] 13:39:33.0614 Gdk: The program 'geary' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 539 error_code 11 request_code 53 (core protocol) minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
In system monitor Geary is gone. Third click on Geary botton opens finally the window of Geary.
Without the ending --gapplication-service geary starts at the first click:
~$ flatpak run org.gnome.Geary
