Geary prepends a space to the > character

When sending an email, Geary prepends a space to >
if it is the first character of a line.
Your installation
- Geary version: 40.0
- Installation method: Debian package
- Desktop environment: Xfce with Adwaita-dark
- Operating system and version: Debian Testing
- Email provider: Self-hosted
Steps to reproduce
- Tap on the Compose Message button
- Write a message quoting someone with "> some quote"
- Send the message
- Look at the received message - you'll notice that the
>
is preceded by a space (ASCII 0x20)
What happened?
Geary prepended a space to the >
character
What did you expect to happen?
What did you expect Geary to do? Geary should've left the composed message unchanged
