The login screen does not show up on an external monitor when the system is rebooted.
I am using GNOME 45.1 (Fedora 39) on a Thinkpad T490s with an Apple Studio Display. The following shows my brief system constitution.
- OS: Fedora release 39 (Thirty Nine) x86_64
- Host: 20NXCTO1WW ThinkPad T490s
- Kernel: 6.5.12-300.fc39.x86_64
- Shell: bash 5.2.21
- Resolution: 3840x2160
- DE: GNOME 45.1
- WM: Mutter
- WM Theme: Adwaita
- CPU: Intel i7-8565U (8) @ 4.600GH
- GPU: Intel WhiskeyLake-U GT2 [UHD Graphics 620]
- Memory: 15664MiB
I am using the external monitor as my primary one for the clamshell mode.
My problem is the login screen does not appear on the external monitor when the system (re)starts. It just shows the blank (black) screen, while the built-in laptop screen displays the login window. This issue only happens for the first login after the system reboot. When I logged out and tried to re-log in without rebooting, I could see the login screen on the external monitor without any problem.
I already tried to copy the local monitor.xml
to /var/lib/gdm/.config
, but it did not work.
