[RFE] Rescue key sequence to make the display manager start (or switch to) the greeter
Some people might argue that some thing like this is needed before desktop kernels disable VTs.
- While every major display server already works with CTRL+ALT+F(x) for switching between multiple running sessions even on VT-less seats, on VT-less seats you need to have more than one session to actually be able to switch to.
- Also, consider if the display server hangs, and you need to log in to start a new session. you can't CTRL+ALT+F(x) away to get to a different session since the display server has to respond to the key command.
(Although on VT enabled kernels, /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq has &= 4 (which the default 176 does not) and then you can ALT+SysRq+R and ALT+SysRq+V to then be able switch to a different VT, so desktop users can already have this happen with VTs)
I opened https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/26313 with systemd too, I don't know if this is something that should be done in systemd, or in all of the Display Managers. Logind can listen for key strokes with the various button devices, I wonder if a good strategy to where logind listens for something like pressing and holding CTRL+ALT+ESC or something, and then it emits some sort of dbus signal or something?
I might have to see what the LightDM and the SDDM folks think too, or if the systemd folks think it's a good idea too.
I accidentally hit submit a bit too soon, hitting CTRL+ENTER, trying to get around the 1.5 spacing, so there might be more mistakes in this than I wanted...
