French accent in password not recognized on login screen
I recently ended up with a new install of EndeavourOS. During the installation process, I set up my keyboard with french layout, and I could correctly enter a password with accents in it (like ¨
).
Yet, when typing my password on the login screen, I can’t get the corresponding key to work. The visual/virtual proposed keyboard (accessibility options) doesn’t provide the needed symbol. Same result if I try on a TTY instead.
Here is the output of locale
:
LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_TIME=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_NAME=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_ALL=
I already opened a thread on EndeavourOS forum here : https://forum.endeavouros.com/t/french-accent-in-password-on-login-screen-issue/41549 I was told to open an issue here so here I am !
FYI, I solved the problem by switching from gdm to lightdm and I can now type ¨
or ^
symbols in the login prompt.
