Issue with build configuration for gdm3 42.0 on Ubuntu 22.04.1
I apologize in advance, as I don't think this is the right place to post about this issue, but I don't know where the right place is, and I'm hoping someone on here can direct me to the right place after reading this.
I've noticed that on Ubuntu 22.04.1
, with the latest version of the gdm3/jammy-updates
package, placing DisallowTCP=false
in the [security]
stanza of /etc/gdm3/custom.conf
does not result in the -listen tcp
flag being passed to Xorg
. From this code, this seems to indicate the HAVE_XSERVER_WITH_LISTEN
option was not set when building that .deb
package. To further back this up, string dumping the gdm3
binary and grepping for "listen" shows the "-nolisten" string is included in the binary, but not "-listen".
root@LLU-D5972-6004:~# apt list --installed 2>&1 | grep gdm3
gdm3/jammy-updates,now 42.0-1ubuntu7.22.04.2 amd64 [installed]
root@LLU-D5972-6004:~# strings /usr/sbin/gdm3 | grep listen
-nolisten
GdmSession: D-Bus server for workers listening on %s
GdmSession: D-Bus server for greeters listening on %s
GdmXdmcpDisplayFactory: Starting to listen on XDMCP port

Does anyone know what party controls these builds for Ubuntu? Would really like to get this fixed so I can run GUI programs from a remote computer without needing to use a custom build of gdm3
.
