feature request: compatibility between systemd-homed auto-login and GDM auto/timed login
Howdie, folks, thanks so much for making GDM! Yay!
I'm trying to use systemd-homed with GDM's auto/timed login feature ( per: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GDM#Automatic_login )
I've been keeping some notes here: https://gitlab.com/jokeyrhyme/my-linux-journey/-/issues/1
Anyhow, the AutomaticLogin
and TimedLogin
settings for GDM don't work when pointing at a systemd-homed user, even when that user's home directory is already decrypted
There's a brief and related discussion in the systemd issue tracker: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/16703
systemd-homed's homectl
does have an "auto-login" flag according to the man page:
--auto-login=BOOL
Takes a boolean argument. Configures whether the graphical UI of the system should automatically log this user in if possible. Defaults to off. If less or more than one
user is marked this way automatic login is disabled.
From what I can gather, there is possibly a misconfiguration on my part, or some missing interoperability between systemd-homed and GDM
