Should figure out what to do about /etc/gdm/PostLogin/Default etc

Description
in GDM 3.16.1 the X session is run as part of the user session. This means there's no good place to run PostLogin (which is run as root).
We could hack something up to allow root access to the users display, and run PostLogin in the blocking RegisterDisplay call, but I think instead we should just drop support for it. Having a bunch of shell scripts in the login path is suboptimal and running programs as root on the user display is iffy.
If we get complaints, we can potentially come up with some alternative solution that solves the complaints in a different way.
